Google Touts Chrome on Bing

Array ( [0] => stdClass Object ( [fid] => 17 [uid] => 1 [filename] => bing.jpg [filepath] => sites/default/files/bing.jpg [filemime] => image/jpeg [filesize] => 9425 [status] => 1 [timestamp] => 1267195907 [nid] => 27 [vid] => 27 [description] => bing.jpg [list] => 1 [weight] => 0 ) [1] => stdClass Object ( [fid] => 19 [uid] => 1 [filename] => GoogleChrome.jpg [filepath] => sites/default/files/GoogleChrome.jpg [filemime] => image/jpeg [filesize] => 3257 [status] => 1 [timestamp] => 1267881240 [nid] => 27 [vid] => 27 [description] => GoogleChrome.jpg [list] => 1 [weight] => 0 ) )

It may come as a surprise, but apparently it is true: Google is advertising its Chrome browser in search advertisements on Microsoft's Bing search engine. Danny Sullivan from Search Engine Land reports that he has never seen Google run an ad on another search engine until now. Similar advertisements Sullivan has seen on Yahoo too.

In a blog post, he notes that "There's a chance someone else might be running this ad, of course. But I don't know of any Google Chrome affiliate programs out there, which means there's little incentive for anyone else but Google to be doing this."

Some observers believe that the Chrome advertising could be a sign of more aggressive marketing strategy from Google, which recently pushed its first TV ad during this month's Super Bowl.
